Publicity is no easy feat

So as I have mentioned before, I am sharing my journey as an aspiring author after releasing my debut romance in November. So what is the main thing I have learnt so far?

Advertising and gaining an audience is not as easy as I originally thought. As a complete unknown, trying to get my name out there, without paying others to do so, is a 24/7 chore. I have spent countless hours engaging with other book lovers and authors online, through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and gradually I am gaining an audience.

The process is slow going, and if you you let up for a day or two your followers start to lose interest. For example I had a couple of days rest from Instagram and when i returned it was to find I had 10 less followers. You can well see why people pay others to be their eyes and ears within the social media community.

Despite this, I will not give up. I will continue to tweet, comment and share my work with the greater book community and I know the hard work will pay off.

On a massive plus side, the more time I spent on social media the more tips I am picking up from other authors and more books to add to my TBR list as an avid reader. A big shout out has to go to fellow author BJ Alpha, who just this week has been advising me on how to improve my promtional material. Now my material is fresher, more eye catching and interesting. Result!!
