Free book promotion to help gather my audience

Well, my book is out there and sales are slowly coming in. On the advice of other authors and to help get my book noticed, I have promoted my book for free for a limited time only. Within an hour of doing so, my sales had already gone up by 10%. Hopefully this will spread the word about my debut novel.
